Ok, but WHY was it WITHOUT an update then? I atleast expected the "new build" message so I, as mentioned before, atleast had the chance to trade in my stupid 2 stacks.
By the way "sell 2 stacks" for 10g each, when they are woth atleast 10 times as much? N ty
Hold on for a year? N ty
Actually give us a week time to trade in our stuff, which would be the "smartest" thing to do? Yeshpleash

I feel for the OP also. According to the Official Wiki (that the GW client links to) the actual end of the event was listed as 5PM PST.
That page listed that as the end time from 16:13, 9 February 2008 up until 05:31, 11 February 2008.
I for one would just like to see Anet keep things consistent. If Anet wants an official Wiki then maybe they sould try and make sure that the info listed is correct.

Well -they did let us know the collectors would be removed at the end of the event to technically we can't complain.
Nevertheless, it's one of those decisions that doesn't make a lot of sense. Leaving collectors a little longer would be handy and would cause no real problem in the game (after all, they did it last year). The script to remove them is automated (I suspect) and it would not cause any harm to simply set them a few hours or a day after the quest npcs disappear.
Common sense, which prevailed last year, would normally say leave them a little longer - hence, I suspect this is a passive aggressive way of ANet showing the players who is in charge.

It's an EVENT. The whole point is that it doesn't last long, that's what makes it interesting. If they left the NPCs for a day more someone would complain as to why they didn't leave them a week. People just can't be pleased.. period.

Yes it is just an EVENT, but why not leave the NPC's a little longer?
Since you can play the games right up until the end of the event,
then the NPC's should be there so you can turn in those rewards.
If you remove the NPC's, then the rewards you received are worthless.
If Anet wants the event to end at 12pm then maybe the games should
end an hour or two before that.

It was a bad move on Anets part. A global in game message when the NPC's are disseapering would have been better. Having the decorations up and tokens dropping doesnt tell much about when the event ends, infact that keeps people thinking its still going so they invest their time in an event thats already over.
ITs like buying sports tickets without them telling you when the game starts or finishes, and they keep selling them to you even after the game is over. The tokens are your sports ticket, the time you invest getting the tokens is like buying a sporting event ticket, so imagine someone selling you a ticket to a game thats already over at full cost!! Yeah sure you could have went to the box office and asked if the game was still going, but they usually have the start time printed on the tickets themselves without the need to do extra searching to find out. And they definately woulndt be selling tickets when the game is already over, except scammers. Im not saying Anet scammed us intentionally, but they sure acted like scammers, allowing confusion and a lack of information to get people to buy or invest their time in something thats already finished. Refund please.

But you're not paying for the tokens. And heaven forbid people might actually want to do a rollerbeetle race because it's fun, not to just farm tokens.

As I pointed out earlier. The ending time for the event was posted as 5pm PST,
on the Official Wiki. I don't think that most of us here
need to have our hands held, but maybe just more accurate info.
And as was said by others, if you are going to give out rewards/items
that need to be turned into an NPC, then maybe that NPC
should be there for a little while after the rewards/items stop dropping.
Just my two cents.

QFT Well said.
They should've warned us..o wait, they did.
They should've made the warning easily noticed..o wait, login screen.
If they left them there a month, there'd still be QQing, there is always QQing.
If, as you suggested, they stopped races early to avoid this, ppl would have lined up QQing they missed an hour of beetleing. Maybe not you, but I gaurantee someone would.

Dude.. could you at least READ what people write instead of repeating the same thing over & over? If they left the NPCs for a day more someone would complain as to why they didn't leave them a week. People just can't be pleased.. period.
It doesn't matter WHEN they ended it, someone would be saying the same thing you are and they would be just as wrong.

There was plenty of advance warning. You missed out. Sell your tokens, stick them on a mule for next year, whatever. Doesn't matter to anyone but you TBQH.

Heh, I'm not complaining they removed the collectors, but I do have to ask why are the quests still active and why are they still dropping? If I can't turn them in (which is fine) then they shouldn't waste my drops on them.

I completely agree that no matter how long you leave the NPC's in the game, someone will complain.
That is the nature of a public forum. I just would like to see more consistency in the way that Anet communicates with it's player base.

Edit: Look, my point is there are MANY avenues of information available. I get tired of the whining about "I didn't know" - you have PLENTY of opportunity to know.
